My rodeo romance, BACK IN THE SADDLE, published August 2022.
Deep in the heart of Texas Hill Country’s ranch and rodeo lands, freelance writer and barrel racer Kendall Greer finds herself down in the dirt, and dumps, after having been thrown hard by Tina Tancredi, the woman she pulled up roots and moved many miles from home for only to find herself entangled with a lying cheat in a loveless relationship.
Although still in the saddle, Kendall is also in pain and recovery when she crosses paths with Deb Mueller, a roper and rider who is having her own rough go of it at the hands of rodeo’s spurring and reining and life’s ups and downs. But, when Kendall witnesses the love with which her new friend cares for her dying mother, she comes to realize that not all women are coiled-up cold-blooded rattlesnakes, and finds herself, in spite of the danger to her heart doing so represents, falling cowgirl hat over boots, hard and fast for the stranger.
CINCO DE DIE-O, a WLW mystery/romance, published April 2022.
Synopsis: Cinco De Die-O
It’s Cinco de Mayo on San Antonio’s famed River Walk, a time of mariachis and margaritas, but when muertos are thrown into the mix, there’s a mystery to be solved–and quick!
When newly assigned SAPD Officer Paige Turner (the daughter of a librarian with a bookish sense of humor) shows up looking for answers, it’s bar owner Bobbi Garza she finds, and there is an immediate and irresistible sizzle between the two women causing much more than the comal in the little cantina’s cocina to heat up! But when a second body appears, and then a third, and…they begin to wonder WHAT’s happening and WHERE all the people are coming from!
As the bodies continue to pile up, the women are forced to put their attraction to one another on a low-flamed back burner and team up with a duo of neighboring merchants in an attempt to solve the WHO? WHEN? (will s/he strike again), and WHY? their section of the downtown tourist area seems to be targeted for the drops before all businesses go bust and more lives are lost.
With a cast of likely suspects introduced in the pages and present on the periphery, after being caught red-handed and confessed, the identity and motive of the unexpected perp will shock them all! Once the mystery is solved, will Bobbi and Paige finally cozy up? You’ll want to read this Pa(i)ge Turner as fast as you can!
My debut novel, WILDFIRE, a second-chance lesbian romance, published July 2021.
After going the distance to be together, Wildland Firefighter Jimena Mendoza and University Professor Sydney Foster have gone their separate ways – yet neither has moved on. When a life threatening accident reunites them, can a love that once burned with intensity be rekindled? – or – will irreconcilable differences prevent the reigniting of passion in their hearts?
Still recovering from the abrupt and unexpected ending of what she thought would be a lifelong love and relationship, Jimena “Mena” Mendoza, a language teacher facing a summer that promises to be anything but a vacation, protects herself from pain and isolates herself from her past by taking on the timely and seasonal role of a wildland firefighter in her native Arizona.
Thousands of miles away in Maryland, Dr. Sydney Foster, a university professor and scholar in the field of Anthropological and Cultural Studies – and Mendoza’s ex-, ponders her true reasons for ending a relationship with a woman she is coming to realize her heart still deeply loves.
Neither can escape haunting memories – as one struggles to let go and move on, while the other tries desperately to reach inward in search of answers and outward to those who she hopes can help her recapture what, and whom, she has lost.
Will the threats of love and death combine to spark reconciliation? – or will the love they once shared – which, like a wildfire, ignited unexpectedly, without warning, and burned deeply and intensely, resist re-kindling and simply burn out? leaving only the charred ashes of memories as a testament to an incomparable emotional beauty that once was.
With the unpredictability of human nature paralleling a backdrop of the nature of fires in the wild, Wildfire offers a psychological examination of the hearts, minds and souls of two women, and a physical exploration of the explosive power, destructive capabilities and healing abilities of both fire and love.
